Is Reiki a gateway drug? First off, you’re probably saying, “What the heck is Reiki? I’ve never heard of this drug. Where can I get my hands on it? Is it another CIA plot to use explosive cigars to assassinate a benevolent dictator, if there is such a thing?”
As February 14th rolls around again, it seems a given to chat about Valentine's Day. Well, sort of. I'll start with the day of hearts and flowers and segue into what's meant to be a slice of practical offering that just might take an edge off the crazy energy of these times.
I'm still discovering damage to the garden from the serious cold spells and nasty freezes of the last weeks, in both the farmstead garden inland and in the garden on the water in Beaufort County. After all the earlier damage I had found, each new discovery stabs at the heart just a little deeper and makes the dreary cold we always get in February frightening to contemplate.

It's okay to be safe. We just beg you not to be rigid. Do your best to be open without gullibility. Understand that feeling is believing. Much different than faith, and therein lies a fundamental difference in spirituality vs. religion. Actually, spirituality can enhance your religion. There's so much to be gained from mixing salt and pepper. Mix a little sugar and spice... that's so nice.
Remember that show, A Gardener's Journal, on television? It was by far my favorite TV program on gardening; naturally HGTV took it off the air. Except for a few good PBS programs run by individual states that are only aired in the home states there is a dearth of good televised information for gardeners.
In South Carolina we celebrate Arbor Day on the 1st Friday of December, and that seems strange to some folks who are used to planting trees in April. The reason for planting in the fall or winter is that roots have a chance to establish for 5 or 6 months before the spring flush.
